The Family Office Trustee
Many family offices are centred on their investment expertise and require a third party trustee or administrator. Because of our history we are perfectly placed to act as trustee, councillor, protector or director of family structures and can easily empathise with your aims and ethos working closely with family investment offices and advisers.
Our clients range from family offices with substantial assets to smaller family trusts and companies. Our introductions come from longstanding friends and contacts and we aim to ensure that we know and understand all our clients individually.
As well as servicing international families we also assist a number of local clients with their business and succession planning needs. The principals of the business each have long standing professional and commercial experience which is invaluable in enabling us to service our clients.
Ironwood Trustees Limited was formed in 2002 with a full fiduciary licence and has since then operated as a small family office providing comprehensive services to a stable client base.
Following a strategic review to determine the optimum structure for the future of the company and its clients, operations were restructured and Ironwood was purchased by the current directors in February 2020. Ironwood’s objective is to expand its client base in order to provide for long-term succession and continuity for the business and its clients, whilst retaining the ethos and professionalism of the business and its family office expertise.
Ironwood Trustees Limited is regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission .
Clive Damsell has been on the board of Ironwood since 2008, becoming full time in April 2019 and was appointed as MD on 1st March 2020. Clive originally trained as a Chartered Tax Adviser and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant subsequently moving into the trust industry with the Mercator Group, now IQ-EQ.
Clive is a member of STEP and the IOD and has substantial experience in the administration of trusts, companies and Guernsey estates and also has a number of Non–Executive Director appointments. His extensive professional qualifications and experience have proved invaluable in the administration of a number of complex structures.
In his spare time Clive enjoys keeping fit, reading biographies and boating around the coast of Guernsey and its islands.

Tony Pickford is a Chartered Accountant and former licenced Insolvency Practitioner. Tony was instrumental in building Chandlers Chartered Accountants (now Grant Thornton Channel Islands) and the Mercator Group which is now part of IQ-EQ. He has been on the board of Ironwood since the company was formed in 2002.
Tony has substantial experience in the commercial and financial world and subsequently as a Non–Executive Director. He provides knowledgeable guidance and oversight to the board.
Tony enjoys spending time with his family and is an International sportsman having recently represented Guernsey in walking Football v. England.
Neal joined Ironwood in September 2020. He originally trained in accountancy with KPMG and Deloitte where he worked primarily with Private Equity, Alternative Investment Funds and Banks before moving into the fiduciary services sector in 2013. Neal is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and graduated from Southampton University with a BSc in Politics.
Neal has strong financial skills in analysis and reporting and has broad experience in multiple asset classes as well as in the management of complex structures across multiple jurisdictions.
In his spare time Neal enjoys hockey, running, skiing and entertaining his four children.

client relationship manager
Debbie joined the Ironwood team in July 2020 as a client relationship manager. Prior to joining Ironwood, Debbie gained invaluable experience in stockbroking, wealth management and fund operations whilst working for local brokerage firms Brewin Dolphin and Ravenscroft Limited. She managed the funds trading desk coordinating various transactions for a broad range of individual and institutional clients and was also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the discretionary investment funds.
Debbie was born and educated in Zimbabwe and has over 15 years’ experience in the local financial services industry. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments and is passionate about ensuring client’s needs are fully met, if not exceeded.
She enjoys a well-balanced life filled with family, friends and all things foodie. She loves the outdoors, travelling to new places and is slightly besotted with her two Birman cats!
